MAGNETAWAN — The community’s lone grocery store abruptly closed its doors last week.
The Magnetawan Grill and Grocery was closed immediately on Feb. 21 after chief building officer Brian Horsman posted a lengthy notice on the door.
“It is an order to prohibit use and occupancy. They don’t have an occupancy permit,” said Horsman.
The order applies to the whole building, including the restaurant, retail space (the grocery store), second and third floors.
While the closure might seem abrupt to the public, Horsman said the building department has been in discussions with owners of the business for a while. Horsman was hesitant to go into details on the closure, citing possible litigation around the matter.
