SUNDRIDGE – Thanks to a few dedicated students and several generous members of the community, no student at Sundridge Centennial Public School will be left without a friend.
Two new handcrafted wooden “Buddy Benches” were unveiled to the student body during a brief assembly on Nov. 3.
“Buddy benches are for when you are lonely and in need of a friend. Everyone needs a friend,” said Kiefer Czerniak-Bryson, a member of the school’s student council.
The eight member student council took on the project during the 2015-16 school year after the students decided they wanted to raise money and give back to their community.
“They came up with many, many ideas but the one thing that kept coming up was wanting to try and do something for our school that could be lasting. We wanted to give something back to the school that will last forever,” said teacher Jamey Sollman.
